More than co-workers

Hello, my name is Josiah, or “Brosiah” to most of the Awake family. I’ve been serving at Awake for about a year and a half now, and I can quite honestly say that it’s one of the better things I’ve chosen to do and be a part of. I’ve been homeschooled my entire life and as cool as that has been, it does tend to leave some holes in certain places, like just talking to people for example. I found that something as simple as starting a conversation was awkward and semi difficult. Serving at Awake has been really good to me in that aspect because it has forced me to learn how to start conversations, and even how to share mission and vision which is not something I couldn’t do before. Not only has the Internship taught me some practical life skills, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a family, a family that is there for each other and genuinely cares for each other. I can’t even count the amount of times that I needed someone to talk to and walked into Awake where I was able to just spill my guts to one of the leaders or sometimes even another intern on shift. At the end of the day being part of Awake has made me grow as a person and I’m happy to be a part of such an amazing family.

My names is Josiah, and this is my story…
